§ Major Lyonsasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether his attention has been called to a report made on 12th March, by the North Midland Reginal Price Regulation Committee, urging immediate regulation and price control for accommodation, meals and spirits, which matters are reserved to his Department by the Board of Trade; and whether he proposes to take action in this connection to end public exploitation, or whether he will transfer to the Board of Trade the consideration of these matters so that they may fall within the ambit of the several price regulation committees?
Major Lloyd GeorgeNo, Sir. I have not seen the report referred to and I am not aware that, as my hon. Friend suggests, the question of price control for accommodation is reserved to my Department. The recommendations of the Committee with regard to prices charged for meals and spirits will receive consideration.
