HC Deb 17 March 1942 vol 378 cc1350-1W
Sir R. Tasker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is the practice of the War Damage Commission, when temporary repairs are necessary, due to enemy action and such works are executed by the owner, to make payment in respect of labour and material?

Sir K. Wood

Where a claim for a temporary works or cost of works payment covers works carried out by the claimant himself, the Commission pays the cost of the materials and, provided he shows that he lost earnings as a result of doing the works himself, such sum on account of his labour as is reasonable.
