Mr. R. J. Taylor

asked the Minister of Supply whether the women handling timber in the vicinity of Ashington, Northumberland, are still being paid 10½d. per hour, or whether the agreement of the 3rd February has been established; and, if so, will he state the rates prevailing?

Sir A. Duncan

The rate for women of 19 years and over engaged in peeling, light felling and cross cutting is 48s. a week.
