HC Deb 11 March 1942 vol 378 c1080W
Mr. McKinlay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received on behalf of milk producers in Scotland who are receiving over a 1d. per gallon less for their product than the milk producers in England; and what steps he proposes to take?

Mr. Johnston

I have received representations on behalf of Scottish milk producers to the effect that the disparity in milk prices as compared with England and Wales should be removed. This disparity in the price levels is of long standing and it may not be possible in the forthcoming fixation of milk prices to iron out the differences, but I am in consultation on the subject with my Noble Friend the Minister of Food.
