§ Mr. Muffasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether an opportunity will be given to domestic consumers of coal to change from their present suppliers?
Major Lloyd GeorgeUnder the Fuel and Lighting Registration and Distribution Order, 1942, which will become operative on 1st July, the unconditional right which the domestic consumer of coal now has to change his supplier on 1st July of any year, will be withdrawn as it is inconsistent with other provisions of the Order designed to secure economical distribution. The consumer, however, retains his opportunity to apply to the local fuel overseer at any time for a change to be effected. The local fuel overseer will have discretion to grant such applications if he is satisfied that the change will not involve uneconomical deliveries and that the consumer's reason for asking for the change is a good one.
