asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many prisoners there are in enemy hands of the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy?

The total number of Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel reported as being prisoners of war is 3,081, of whom 430 are officers and 2,651 ratings and marine other ranks. The number of Merchant Navy personnel reported in enemy hands is 3,328.
