Mr. W. Joseph Stewartasked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that in the administrative county of Durham there is paid to persons in receipt of workmen's compensation more than £20,000 per annum out of the county rates by the county public assistance committee; and can anything be done before the publication of the report of the Government committee to increase the amount paid in compensation so as to make these people independent of Poor Law relief?
