HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 cc722-3W
Mr. Kirby

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, bearing in mind the present crowded condition of most trains and the fact that Army camps and depots are often distant from railway stations, he will abolish the present practice of compelling soldiers, when changing stations, to take with them their blankets, an almost unbearable burden at a time when the men are wearing full packs, carrying kit bags and sometimes bearing arms as well?

Mr. Sandys

The order requiring soldiers to take their blankets with them when changing stations has been under review and it has recently been decided to discontinue this practice.
