HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 c720W
Mr. Culverwell

asked the President of the Board of Education (1) what holidays are being granted to school-teachers;

(2) whether arrangements are being made during the school holidays for the care of children whose parents are at work?

Mr. Butler

The importance of making satisfactory arrangements for the care of children during school holidays was brought to the attention of local education and school authorities in Circular 1596, a copy of which I am sending to my hon. Friend, who will see from it that the length of holidays enjoyed by individual teachers is likely to vary with the extent and nature of the arrangements for the care of children. There should be no question of teachers forfeiting altogether the holiday which they deserve.
