HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 cc721-2W
Sir A. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for War what is at present the average number of food parcels despatched weekly to Lisbon for prisoners of war in Germany and Italy; and whether there is now any congestion in transport from Lisbon to Geneva?

Mr. Sandys

On an average about 100,000 food parcels a week are at present being despatched from this country to Geneva and this rate is being still further increased. In addition an average of another 60,000 parcels are being despatched weekly from Canada. There is still some congestion at Lisbon, but the number of parcels transported from there to Geneva has in recent months appreciably increased.
