HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 cc523-4W
Mr. Ivor Thomas

asked the Minister of Information whether he will permit collections in aid of approved objects, such as medical supplies for Greece, Soviet Union and China, to be made at meetings organised by his Ministry?

Mr. Bracken

We do occasionally allow collections to be taken at meetings organised by the Ministry of Information. But I cannot make any general promise on the subject, since in practice it is very difficult to distinguish between numerous deserving objects and it is not really the purpose of these meetings that they should be the site of charitable collections.
