HC Deb 28 July 1942 vol 382 c348W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that British Drug Houses, Ltd., are contractors for his Department; that this firm lays down a condition of employment for their scientific workers that they must submit to the management everything they intend publishing, though such matter may be of no concern to the firm; that the Association of Scientific Workers, of which the employees are members, have unsuccessfully protested against this; and whether he will consider withholding further contracts from British Drug Houses until that condition is removed?

Mr. Peat

My right hon. Friend would not feel justified in withholding contracts from a firm by reason of the inclusion in the terms of service of its own employees of a condition such as that mentioned in this Question.
