§ Mr. Granvilleasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the hard- 189W ship likely to be caused to the towns of Eye and Framlingham through the calling-up of doctors which will leave each of these large rural areas with only one medical practitioner; and whether he will consider allowing two doctors for each of these districts, particularly in view of the changed circumstances owing to war conditions?
§ Mr. E. BrownI am informed by the Central Medical War Committee, whose local committees are responsible for selecting doctors for recruitment to the Forces, that with the assistance of neighbouring practitioners the areas referred to can be adequately served. I am not prepared to dissent from the view of the committee, having regard to the great need for economy in medical man-power, to which I recently drew attention when introducing the Estimates of my Department.
