§ Sir H. Williamsasked the Minister of Labour the circumstances in which a meeting of Croydon employers, called by the Man-Power Board, was held on 14th July; and whether the meeting was a private or a public one?
§ Mr. BevinThis meeting was called by the Croydon Local Employment Committee and not by the Man-power Board. The local employment committees, which are advisory bodies consisting of non-official members, have been asked to assist in promoting the part-time employment of women in their areas and it was in furtherance of this object that the meeting was called at Croydon, where the number1414W of women available for part-time employment is large. The meeting was public and I am informed that useful progress was made.
