§ Sir J. GriggSince the outbreak of war nine awards of the Distinguished Service Order have been made to non-combatant officers. The statutes of the Distinguished Service Order, as amended in 1931, lay down that it shall be conferred only as a reward for distinguished service in action with the enemy and I can assure him that the standard required is as high to-day as it has ever been.
