HC Deb 21 January 1942 vol 377 c363W
Mr. Denman

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that while fresh fish has lately been obtainable at hotels it has been very scarce in fish and chip shops; and whether he will arrange that the limited supply shall be more equitably distributed?

Major Lloyd George

Fresh fish is in short supply and all distributors including hotels, retailers and fish friers, are receiving less fish than they require. Without full statistics of fish distribution it is impossible for anyone to say whether one class of trader is getting more than its fair share of available supplies. As I stated in my reply to a similar Question yesterday, a scheme of fish distribution is now being prepared and should remedy any existing inequalities of supply.
