HC Deb 21 January 1942 vol 377 c370W
Mr. Mander

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies how many of the Jewish refugees deported from Palestine to Mauritius died on the way from Palestine to Mauritius and since their arrival in the island, distinguishing between those whose deaths were caused by infectious or contagious diseases and those who died from other causes?

Mr. George Hall

I have no information to show whether there were any deaths on the voyage from Palestine to Mauritius. The number of deaths since the arrival of these Jews in Mauritius, up to the 30th September, 1941, was 54. Of these 26 were due to infectious or contagious diseases and 28 to other causes.
