Dr. Morganasked the Home Secretary why the so far unused tube station, the "Old Bull and Bush" has not yet been used as an underground shelter; whether it is still a store for silencing-screens for tube tunnels; and whether it is proposed to utilise this station as a shelter in the near fuure?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonThere is no access to this station from the surface and it could not safely or conveniently be used as an air raid shelter unless a shaft were sunk to give such access and to povide means of sewage disposal. The works involved would necessitate a considerable expenditure of labour, materials and money and would, it is estimated, take at least a year to complete. Having regard to the general shelter position in London, I do not consider that it would be right to undertake this work. The station is being used by the London Passenger Transport Board for storage purposes.
