HC Deb 17 December 1942 vol 385 c2117W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the recent fire in a Boston night club in which 490 people lost their lives, he is satisfied that night clubs and other similar establishments should be conducted with entire freedom from control, and, as large numbers of people frequent such establishments including members of His Majesty's Forces as well as the general public, will he take powers to ensure that persons frequenting night clubs are safeguarded by the provision of adequate precautions against fire, sufficient exits, etc.?

Mr. H. Morrison

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to a Question by the hon. Member for Bodmin (Mrs. Beatrice Wright) on 3rd December.
