HC Deb 17 December 1942 vol 385 c2090W
Sir R. Wells

asked the Secretary of State for War why the permanent pension awarded to Sergeant Alfred Faulkner, No. 5247, Bedfordshire Regiment, on 18th April, 1935, of 25s. per week, has been reduced to 10s. 6d. since 16th December, 1941?

Mr. A. Henderson

The disability pension granted to Sergeant Faulkner of 10s. 6d. a week was increased in 1935 to 25s. a week under the terms of Army Order 471 of 1922 which provided for the increase of certain injury pensions subject to the pensioner's total income not exceeding £200 a year, if married, or £150 if single. In 1939 a further increase of 2s. 4d. a week was payable. His total income has since increased to such an extent above £200 that the increase in his basic pension is no longer payable.
