HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 c1959W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Health whether he will inquire into the case of a general practitioner, aged 41, who has been recommended by the local war committee for compulsory enlistment, although he has a wife, two children, a mother and a sister to support, and there are younger doctors, unmarried and without such commitments in the same district, remaining unenlisted; whether he will inquire into the constitution and activities of the local committee responsible for this action; and will he revise this decision?

Mr. E. Brown

If my hon. Friend will furnish details of the practitioner and the local medical war committee concerned I will have inquiries made. I ought, however, to explain that a local medical war committee in nominating practitioners for His Majesty's Forces is concerned solely with the effect of his withdrawal on the civilian medical needs of the area and not with any question of personal hardship.
