HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 c1961W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning what directions have been issued to Government Departments in connection with the limitation of supplies of hot water for the use of personnel employed there; and whether objection has been raised to the use of baths by persons employed on continuous duty for 24 hours or more where baths already exist and the water is economically used?

Mr. Hicks

The following directions about the supply of hot water for domestic purposes were issued to Departments in September, 1942:—Domestic hot water supplies should be shut off altogether wherever possible or restricted to a brief period between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. or 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. according to departmental convenience.

I am not aware that the application of these directions has caused any hardship, but if the hon. Member will let me know what case he has in mind, I will look into it.
