HC Deb 03 December 1942 vol 385 cc1323-4W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Minister of Health whether, as hotel managements are doubtful whether they are entitled to demand from prospective guests production of their national registration identity cards, and such managements are not entitled to decline to receive such guests if accommodation is available, he will make it clear, either by regulation or otherwise, that they are entitled to demand such production?

Mr. E. Brown

The question of requiring hotel visitors to produce their identity cards to the hotel management is under consideration as part of comprehensive proposals respecting the duties of hotel and boarding house visitors under the National Registration Act; but I am not at present in a position to state what conclusion will be reached. I will, however, bear my hon. Friend's representations in mind.
