HC Deb 02 December 1942 vol 385 c1171W
Lieut.-Commander Tufnell

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that many women doing voluntary work for the war effort are forced to give up these activities in order to attend to their own domestic duties owing to the calling up of all their servants; and whether he will arrange for concessions to be made in the calling up of domestic servants in households where the wife is herself doing voluntary work?

Mr. Bevin

The work whether voluntary or paid upon which a householder is engaged is taken into account, together with the other circumstances before a domestic servant is withdrawn for other work.
