HC Deb 01 December 1942 vol 385 c1030W
Mr. Liddall

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will ensure that manufacturers are able to maintain an adequate supply of the No. 8 torch batteries so popular with the workers and their families?

Captain Waterhouse

As my right hon. Friend informed my hon. Friend, the Member for Bournemouth (Sir L. Lyle) on 19th November, these batteries are still being made in very large quantities. Increased supplies will also be available this winter of batteries of larger sizes which are more economical in raw materials and labour, and in cost, relative to the number of hours of light which they give.
