§ Mr. MabaneMrs. Thornley was prosecuted at Bolton on 31st July on a number of charges of acquiring excessive quantities of food and was fined £730. 1,484 tins of food including meat, soup, milk and cream and over 850 lbs. of food-stuffs, including 280 lbs. of jam, 50 lbs. of honey, 50 lbs. of syrup and treacle, 45 lbs. of tea, 114 lbs. of cooking fat, 71 lbs. of biscuits and 68 lbs. of chocolates and sweets were found in the defendant's two houses.
