HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 c1222W
Mr. Cocks

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he can make a statement on the present position of the negotiations between the National Association of Girls' Training Corps and the Women's Junior Air Corps?

Mr. Butler

Arrangements are, I understand, in hand for a meeting between representatives of the two bodies. While there is no desire to check initiative, the Government's view is that pre-service training for girls should be of a general character. Girls should not be given the impression that a particular form of training prepares them for, or ensures them entry into, a specific branch of the Fighting Services.
