HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 cc1207-8W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to a recent broadcast by Major Sir Basil Bartlett, of the Army Kinematography Department, entitled "Experts in Khaki," which wrongly attributed the making of "Next of Kin" to that department and was held to be offensive in other ways; and whether he will state the terms under which this officer is serving and whether they leave him free to engage in commercial activities?

Mr. Sandys

I have seen the script of the broadcast play in the series "Experts in Khaki," to which I think my hon. Friend refers. I find in it nothing either offensive or misleading. The training film "Next of Kin," as it screen title makes clear, was, like other training films, produced by a commercial company for the War Office. Major Bartlett serves as a staff officer in the War Office on the same terms as other officers.
