§ Sir H. Williamsasked the Prime Minister whether the Treasury Regulation which forbids the employment in the Civil Service of a person whose parents are aliens also extends to service in the Armed Forces?
§ Mr. AttleeI understand that the Regulation referred to by my hon. Friend is to some extent relaxed in war-time to permit of the employment in the Civil Service of any suitable persons of alien parentage when necessary. Aliens and British subjects born of enemy alien parents are not eligible for service in certain branches of the Armed Forces but otherwise there is no bar to the voluntary enlistment in the Armed Forces of either aliens or British subjects whose parents are aliens.
