§ Mr. Emeryasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will, subject to the approval of the Canadian Government, requisition, at not less than par and prior to earliest contractual repayment date, the sterling loans of the City of Montreal issued and held here, and return them to the Dominion authorities against purchases of Canadian goods as was done in August last with other Canadian loans?
§ Sir K. WoodThe Dominion Government are not of course responsible for the service of these loans and I do not think it would be proper to submit to them a proposal on the lines suggested in the Question.
