asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what grounds he has refused the application for increased pay and allowances to Army officers; and what advice or requests he has received from the War Office on the subject?

My hon. Friend will have observed the answer given on 9th September by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War, in which certain improvements in the allowances of married officers were announced.
