HC Deb 09 September 1941 vol 374 cc62-3W
Major Kimball

asked the Secretary of State for War what steps he is taking with regard to the recent refusal of the Grampian Electricity Supply Company to supply electricity to a number of Army sites in the Highland areas on the grounds that they cannot do so until the Glen Affric Order has been approved, in view of the fact that the Glen Affric Supply Scheme will not be started until after the war?

Captain Margesson

A recent application by the military authorities for two small supplies of electricity was temporarily declined by the company on the ground that the power available from their existing sources of supply had been fully absorbed. Arrangements were subsequently made by the company with the Central Electricity Board for an additional supply to be made available from other sources to meet urgent war requirements, and I understand that it will now be possible to satisfy the existing needs of the War Department.
