§ Mr. AmeryThe heavy rains which last from June to October render the area through which the Burmese section of the railway will run too unhealthy for the maintenance of any considerable labour force. Extensive field work was therefore not possible until the beginning of October, but a commencement was made and it was expected that full outdoor staff consisting of five survey parties would be complete by the end of September and ready to take the field as soon as the rains ceased.
