§ Mr. Wootton-Daviesasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what amount of labour and of coal, respectively, would be saved if all sugar imported into this country were issued for consumption in the form in which it was received?
1092W
Major Lloyd GeorgeIt would not be in the public interest to give any figures from which the quantity of the annual imports of sugar could be calculated. I am advised, however, that it would not be practicable to put all sugar imported into this country into direct consumption in the form in which it arrives.
