HC Deb 02 December 1941 vol 376 c1011W
Captain Anstruther Gray

asked the Minister of Pensions how many soldiers' families have, so far, been granted improved allowances under the provisions of Command Paper 6318.

Mr. Paling

As a result of the review of existing grants increases have been awarded in 132,000 cases. In addition the existing award has been maintained in 52,000 cases, a substantial proportion of which would have been due for reduction under the old scheme. Awards have also been made in 10,000 cases which had previously been rejected, and since the new scheme was announced its benefits have been applied in 37,000 cases of first application.
