asked the Prime Minister what is the number of casualties from the beginning of the war up to the latest date of citizens, men, women and children, in this country, and also of men in the Armed Forces, in both cases fatal and non-fatal?

The approximate number of casualties from the beginning of the war to the present date is as follows:—

Civilians, 29,856 killed, 40,897 wounded.

Armed Forces, 37,607 killed and missing, 25,895 wounded.
