Colonel A. Evansasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will request all local authorities concerned to appoint a particular officer, who would be in full-time attendance, to advise applicants immediately on all claims for compensation arising out of damage or loss sustained as the result of enemy action, and particularly those in pecuniary need?
§ Captain CrookshankI assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring primarily to claims for advances to persons of limited incomes under the scheme administered by the Assistance Board. The local officer of the Board is always ready to help applicants in making their claims and I do not think that the appointment of a special officer is necessary.
