HC Deb 19 March 1940 vol 358 c1824W
Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that the Well-field Steel Works, Llanelly, has closed down; and whether he will investigate the reasons for this and take steps to enable these works to resume operations?

Mr. Burgin

Every effort is being made to maintain the supply of steel to Messrs. Richard Thomas and Company, who own the Wellfield Steel Works at Llanelly as well as extensive plant elsewhere, but it has not so far proved practicable to furnish them with steel sufficient to maintain all their rolling works in full production.
