HC Deb 04 July 1940 vol 362 cc1037-8W
Dr. Little

asked the Home Secretary whether he will furnish with permits and grant travelling facilities to civil servants from Northern Ireland stationed in Britain to enable them to spend their holidays at their homes in Ulster?

Sir J. Anderson

I regret that the restrictions which on grounds of national security it has been necessary to impose

course is to last eight weeks. No enrolments have yet been made, but it is anticipated that there will be no difficulty in obtaining a sufficient number locally by means of publicity through the local Employment Exchange. The training allowances to be paid to the men while in training are the same as for men attending a Government training centre while living at home, e.g., a man of 21 years and over will receive 245. (which includes 5s. in lieu of lunch) plus 10s. for an adult dependant and allowances for children in accordance with the usual scale.
