HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 c56W
Mr. Markham

asked the Secretary of State for Air what are the present restrictions on the publication by the Press of items referring to the weather; and whether he is considering any modification of them?

Captain Balfour

This matter has been under review, and modified directions were issued last week for general guidance. Their broad effect is, in the interests of national security, to avoid the publication of weather forecasts and to delay the publication of information about weather conditions.
