HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 cc55-6W
Mr. Brooke

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether, in fairness to men whose homes are in evacuation areas, and in view of the importance of children not being brought back into those areas, he will arrange that men proceeding on leave and entitled to free railway warrants shall be enabled to use this warrant for the purpose of visiting both their homes in an evacuation area and their children in a reception area?

Sir K. Wood

Personnel proceeding on leave are entitled to a free warrant to their selected destination and may, if they wish, break their journey. If, during their leave, they wish to visit a place not covered by the warrant, they may take advantage of the usual half-fare concession.
