HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 cc44-5W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education to what extent the Board is to be responsible for the administration of the grant of £25,000, which has been made by the Pilgrim Trust, for the aid of the arts in war time?

Mr. Lindsay

The responsibility for the administration of this grant is undertaken by the Committee for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts set up by the Pilgrim Trust, under the chairmanship of Lord Macmillan, the Chairman of the Trust. My hon. Friend, the Member for East Islington (Miss Cazalet) is a member of this committee, and the Board are also represented by two of their officers: they also supply a secretary. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing the gratitude of the Board to the Pilgrim Trust for initiating this valuable experiment.
