HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 cc43-4W
Mr. Tomlinson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he has considered the resolution from the Manchester Education Committee urging that compulsory attendance at school in evacuation areas shall be restored; and what action he proposes to take with respect to same?

Mr. Parker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware of the strong demand for the restoration of compulsory education; and what steps are being taken to provide facilities for all children, either in the reception areas or, with the necessary air-raid protection, in the evacuation areas?

Mr. Lindsay

I hope to have an opportunity of making a statement on the subject tomorrow.
