HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 cc45-6W
Sir R. Blair

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he is satisfied that a sufficient supply of window glass and substitutes, such as oiled silk, tar- paulins, cardboard, etc., exists for the immediate repair of air raid and other damage; and will he take steps to secure that such necessities shall be obtainable at fair prices?

Mr. Ramsbotham

There is no reason to suppose that there exists any general shortage of window glass and substitutes for the immediate repair of air-raid damage, but reserve stocks of glass and suitable substitutes have been purchased by this Department in order that temporary shortages in particular districts may be overcome.
