HC Deb 21 August 1940 vol 364 cc1315-6W
Colonel Burton

asked the Attorney General whether he will proceed, under the Treachery Act or other powers, against J. G. Edwards, of Perwitt Gardens, Kingswood, Watford, who, before the South-east England Conscientious Objectors Tribunal in London, admitted to Judge Lilley that when he discovered that he was making parts for aeroplanes he intentionally made everything in such a manner that it could not be used.

The Attorney-General

No, Sir. I have had a thorough inquiry made into this case. The admission made before Judge Lilley was, according to my information, in different terms from those set out in the Question, and would not support a charge under the Treachery Act. The effect of the man's statement was that he worked badly in order to get his discharge.
