§ Mr. R. Morganasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will direct the attention of the welfare officers to the need for encouraging civilian organisations to make more adequate provision of food on Sunday afternoons for troops and members of the Forces frequenting the streets of many of our larger cities, such as Manchester and Exeter?
§ Mr. EdenI have not heard of any difficulties in this matter. If my hon. Friend will let me know of any specific instances of inadequate facilities, I shall he glad to investigate.
§ Mr. Morganasked the Secretary of State for War whether, to provide congenial occupation for troops who otherwise lack opportunities for exercise and recreation, he will direct welfare officers to approach the committees of the many sports clubs near large cities, often owned 55W by business firms, with a view to making their grounds available for troops to play games on the days when not used by the members of the club?
§ Mr. EdenIt is part of the duty of welfare officers to take steps towards the provision of recreational facilities for troops in the way mentioned by my hon. Friend, and their attention has recently been called to this matter.
