§ Mr. Woodburnasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the disappointment in the ranks of the Army at the decision not to allow the use of civilian dress when on leave; and whether, as a concession to the desire of the men for a freshening change of dress, he will arrange that soldiers off duty may wear a collar and tie with the open neck of their battle dress?
§ Mr. StanleyThis question has been fully considered, and it is not thought appropriate that officers and men serving in this country should cease to wear uniform when on leave. I do not think the suggestion made by the hon. Member would be at all desirable.
