§ Mr. W. Robertsasked the Postmaster-General whether he proposes to give facilities for private or business trunk calls to foreign countries; or whether the present prohibition of such calls is permanent?
§ Major TryonOn the introduction of censorship it was necessary to suspend all overseas telephone services except for Government use. The possibility of relaxing these restrictions, subject to suitable safeguards, is at present under consideration, but owing to the heavy demands on the overseas circuits for Service purposes, any facilities which it may be found possible to provide would necessarily be of a very restricted character.
