§ Mr. W. H. Greenasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consult with the French Government with a view to securing the removal of the full peace-time customs duties now charged on all parcels sent to members of His Majesty's Forces serving in France, as was done during the last war, in view of the hardship involved to persons, particularly relatives, sending a one-pound tin of home-made jam to a soldier, the value of which would be about 4d., and is charged Is. 7d., a small cake for which the charge was Is. 8d., and a cake and a few cigarettes, the charge in this case being 2s. 8d.?
