HC Deb 21 November 1939 vol 353 c1044W
Mr. Lyons

asked the President of the Board of Trade what action is contemplated with reference to transactions, not concerned with foodstuffs, where, in relation to the proposed sale of any article, the seller imposes or seeks to impose. a condition entailing the purchase of some other thing?

Mr. Stanley

The practice to which my hon. and learned Friend refers is prohibited in relation to sales of price-regulated goods by Section 12 of the Prices of Goods Act; and it will be open to anyone who considers that he has a grievance in this respect to make a complaint to one of the price-regulation committees. So far as concerns goods which are not price-regulated, I shall be glad to look into any specific cases which may occur and to consider whether any action can usefully be taken.
